01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?

[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No, I'm so lame I'm not even sure if it's a type of cocaine or what. But I'm pretty sure it's a hard drug and I respect myself too much to endanger my life just for kicks.

    [03] Abortion: Pro-Choice, or Pro-Life?
Pro-choice. It's simply such a personal decision the state can not ethically interfere. However I am supportive of getting it done as early as possible in the pregnancy, but that would be easier if certain groups would not make it so taboo.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
I don't believe gender is related to performance.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
No. We shouldn't lower ourselves to that level. It's in the interests of human civilization to respect the prisoner's inalienable right to life, even if said prisoner has no regard for anyone else. That way we stand above them morally.

[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes, I don't see it as any worse than alcohol or tobacco. I don't like it myself though.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I'm for people making their own decisions about their sex life.

[08] Do you believe in God?
When you put it like that I have to say no. However, I believe in the human spirit, and that we can dedicate our lives to something greater than ourselves. That said I am certain there is no intelligent force that guides the universe, it can not logically exist.

[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Yes, it's discrimination to restrict it otherwise. I don't see it as a big deal, as far as I'm concerned being against it is the same bigoted thinking pattern that leads to being against interracial marriage. Honestly, I think marriage shouldn't even be a legal entity, since it derives from religion and should be separate from government. This is why I can't run for office :(

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
I don't think it's wrong that they want to live here. I do think it's wrong that the laws can't accommodate them and they have to sneak in. If we welcomed them in and helped them become citizens instead of deporting them it would probably solve some of the labor issues. I believe accepting immigrants is as American as any other principle.

[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
She makes the call, though I would probably advise against it. This is why sex ed needs to be done early.

[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Yes, it should be lowered to 14. If children grow up around alcohol they almost never abuse it when they grow up. Give it to them when they are still influenced by their parents who can teach them how to enjoy it responsibly.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
As soon as it's feasible. I wouldn't support a sudden departure, but we should phase out our operations. It's not our job to police other nations...they have a government now...let them and their oil surplus buy policemen.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No, suicide is a personal choice, and assisted suicide is useful especially when someone is terminally ill.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Only in rare cases, and not after they are 8. Also, the spanking need only be 2-4 slaps. The act of power and discipline is more important than the pain. Very young children need to learn that things can escalate that far if they push far beyond boundaries...for example smashing all the glassware or stealing matches...extreme problems.

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Yes, and I feel burning the American flag is a very American act. The fact that we can do it is one of the reasons we are such a great country.

[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?

[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
    I guess not.

You don't pay too much attention to fashion and far be it from you to spend hours on designing outfits which could shock your friends. If you ever shock them it's by how little you care about the clothes you're wearing. The only thing you pay attention to is not to look ridiculous. You don't need to draw attention wherever you come but you definitely need to know you are not the object of jokes. You are happy to blend in. I'm sure this approach leaves you a lot of time and energy for more interesting things than fashion.

    Interview Meme from alynch
If you want to be interviewed, ask in the comments and I'll give you five questions to post in your LJ.

    1) You've chosen Computer Science for a field. Name one other field you've always been interested in, but didn't pursue, and why.

Up until senior year in high school I thought I was going into Music. I learned the saxaphone in 3rd grade and was a natural at it. Music came to me as easy as speaking english. I played in the jazz band in high school, and even won 'Director's Award' my senior year. However, I had studied music a lot...and I guess there was just this feeling that I accomplished everything I wanted to. I could do it and everybody thought I was great. I win. I didn't want to be lectured by music professors on how bad I am, that would make me miserable, and by high school I rarely even practiced anymore. I had completed the amatuer stage and was proud of myself, but knew I'd be miserable trying to be a pro.

On the other hand, computers were a wide open world in which I knew little, but everything I knew excited me. When I played saxaphone I did it for the people listening, but the passion had faded for myself. When I program it's for my own enjoyment.

    2) How do we fix this country? 20 words or less. ;-)
Have faith in freedom, protect those who can't protect themselves. Acknowledge we're responsible not only for ourselves but the world.

    3) What was it like growing up in Maine?
You learn to be tough, and you learn to be careful.

In the winter, everyone's as cold as you, so don't bitch about it. If you do, you're bitching to people who see you everyday, and it's very hard to get away from them. You all suffer together, and you can see everyone's suffering. There's too few people to get lost in the crowd, for good or ill.

I think my ability to take hard emotional and physical hits derives from Maine, but also my difficulty expressing myself. You envy the sturdy white pine, it manages to be green no matter how cold it is, whereas other trees don't bother.

    4) Favorite kind of beer?
Saranac Black Forest. I love dark beers, and I love 'earthy' beers, ones where you can smell the yeast.

    5) You've found someone else's wallet on the street with $100 in mixed bills in it, and ID. They live right around the corner from where you found it. Do you return it completely intact, or take a small "finders fee"?

Completely intact. I feel I'd actually gain more that way.

.:-|What is your true element?|-:. -With Anime Pictures and detailed answers-

Your element is earth: Wise, solitary, mysterious and loving. You are very wise. Your wise as in you know things others do not. You can see past the stereotypes and see the real people behind their facades, people will often come to you for help and advice. Quite solitary and somewhat shy around people because you prefer animals and plants. Animals aren't afraid to show themselves or what they are feeling and plants are fun to nurture. You are very strong in your silence, if you set your mind on something you will often times pursue it to the end. Sometimes you just want to get away, so you seek refuge in the forest where you can have time to think and try to sort out your emotions. The sound of the wind usually calms you, especially moving through the trees. Life to you is something precious and should not be taken for granted.

So despite being in debt and sick and learning a new area and having major engine work done on my car, I'm very optimistic because I have the wonderful Jac and some old friends and am making new friends.
